Flooring FAQs

What kinds of flooring are good for kitchens and bathrooms?

Ideally, a kitchen or bathroom floor should be made from a non-porous material in order to resist moisture and be easily cleanable. Vinyl and tile are usually considered the best, although many ceramic tiles need to be treated with a sealant.

Whatfs the difference between laminate and engineered hardwood?

Laminates are essentially a core wrapped in high-density fiberboard, which is then covered with a photographic image of wood or stone and then coated with a resin. Engineered hardwood on the other hand, is a series of thinly sliced pieces of actual wood that are then stacked and glued together under intense heat and pressure.

Is bamboo flooring better than hardwood?

Bamboo and hardwood, when properly treated, have roughly the same factors of durability. However, bamboo is often preferred because it is an easily renewable building product, unlike most hardwoods.
